Do sole traders need CDM compliance?

Yes. CDM 2015 applies to all construction work in Great Britain, including domestic projects. As a sole trader or small builder, you likely need a Construction Phase Plan (CPP) and Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS) for most jobs.

The Site Book grew out of real experience with construction paperwork. Nicola has worked across domestic housing, larger industrial works, council projects, and principal contractor roles, and knew first-hand how clunky RAMS, CPPs and site paperwork could be with existing tools. We built The Site Book to make that process faster, clearer and more practical for small UK construction firms.
