Built by construction — The Site Book's story and team
UK construction compliance software — built by people who've worked on site.
Written by Nicola Dobbie, Founder, The Site Book — Last reviewed
Construction workers shouldn't need a health & safety consultant to fill out forms. CDM 2015 applies to every builder in the UK, but the tools available are either expensive enterprise software or blank Word templates. We built The Site Book to fix that.

The story behind The Site Book — from on-site frustration to CDM software
The Site Book came from real frustration with construction paperwork.
Nicola had worked across domestic housing, larger industrial works, council projects and principal contractor roles, and had seen first-hand how often RAMS, CPPs and site paperwork were slowed down by clunky systems and awkward workflows.
The paperwork mattered. The tools often got in the way.
We built The Site Book to make that process faster, clearer and more practical for small UK construction firms, so they can get professional, job-specific paperwork sorted without the usual admin drag.

Frequently asked questions about The Site Book, CDM, and our UK team
- Who built The Site Book?
- The Site Book was built by a small UK team who believe construction safety shouldn't require a degree in paperwork. We've seen first-hand how complicated compliance tools can be, and we set out to fix that.
- Is The Site Book a UK company?
- Yes. The Site Book is a UK-based company, and our software is built specifically around UK regulations including CDM 2015.
- How does it work?
- You describe your project in plain English — for example, 'kitchen extension, 3-bed semi'. We analyse the job type, identify relevant hazards and control measures under CDM 2015, and create professional documents (RAMS, CPP, site inductions) tailored to your project.
- Is my data safe?
- Your project data is encrypted in transit and at rest. All data is stored in the UK. We are fully GDPR compliant — see our privacy policy for details. We never sell your data or use it for advertising. Project text is processed to create your documents, but we only share data with sub-processors necessary to run the service (listed in our privacy policy). You own your documents and can export or delete your entire account at any time.
